My Journey From Idaho to Puerto Rico

Being in Puerto Rico going on five years has given me enough experience to draw on and share my story to this point from where I lived in the beautiful Northwest of in Idaho to my journey to this majestic island, my new home, of Puerto Rico.  It started with a drive on a cold snowy day in February of 2017.  I was done with my 22nd cold winter and I just had enough.  Idaho was changing with the influx of people moving there and with it came some social change that I just didn’t want to be part of.  So, we picked Puerto Rico to visit and after 3 weeks of exploring the island we not only fell in love with the magnificent beauty of the island but how generously friendly the people were.  It reminded us of how Idaho used to be before it changed.  We came back a couple more times to make sure we can live here on a day-to-day basis.  We knew it was going to be different, so we wanted to make sure this was the right place.  On the way home we decided to put our homes on the market to sell and make the big decision to move our lives to Puerto Rico and haven’t looked back.

The Creation of Puerto Rico Real Estate, PSC

After spending 21yrs in the Mortgage\Home Loan business, I decided to open a real estate company.  I didn’t know the language, the culture, or the island.  What could go wrong?  I love a challenge!!  With a couple bumps along the way I finally was able to open my company up, Puerto Rico Real Estate, PSC.  The first thing I knew I had to do was to hire good local talent and I got lucky enough to be able to bring on board Josivette and Fabiola who both have been with me since the beginning, and I cannot appreciate them enough for taking a chance on me.

Since then, we have sold over 115 properties in less than 2 1/2 years and have learned a lot along the way.  It has been quite the venture understanding the dynamics of how things work in Puerto Rico vs in the States.  It’s a very archaic system mixed in with some old school thinking. But in all the chaos, there are opportunities and lessons we have learned along the way.  I am proud of how much Josivette, and Fabiola have grown and without them, I can assure you that we would not have the success we are having.  We have also met some of the nicest people with a mix of some unforgettable characters along our journey.  Don’t get me wrong, there were times where we all looked at each other to make sure we really want to keep doing this.  But at the end of the day, we were helping people and some of the most rewarding moments are those where our clients are brought to tears because we helped them.  This is really a rewarding job.

The Future

As we move forward, we are constantly trying to improve what we do and how we do it.  We have made our share of mistakes, but we have reflected on them, took them as lessons, and it made us better.  Our commitment is to do the right thing every time, do our best all the time, and make sure you know we genuinely care about you and the goals you are trying to accomplish while buying or selling your Real Estate property in Puerto Rico. With our commitment in making the purchase or sale of your property as smooth and as painless as possible during the transaction, we are also just as committed to helping you after we have closed by being here to help you with anything you need as well as helping the ones you know that need our help!

The Kindness of Puerto Ricans

Since our family has been here, we have made a lot of great friends and created memories for a lifetime. The kindness of the Puerto Ricans is nothing I have experienced before except when I was going to school in Chadron, NE. The people in the Midwest are the closest I can compare the people of Puerto Rico.  Always wanting to give, whether its fruits from their gardens, Coffee, or lunch when you come to visit, or just a hug and big smile for coming to see them.  Puerto Rico has been a blessing in my life and absolutely love being here.

Puerto Rico, My HOME

Don’t get me wrong, I do miss the big mountains filled with Pines and snow caps, lakes and rivers full of fish, and camping with endless trails to explore.  Idaho and the Northwest is just as beautiful as Puerto Rico, but Today I call Puerto Rico My HOME.

I look forward to giving you my insight and opinion about what I see and experience here in Puerto Rico.  I will try to give you a nugget of something you didn’t know, a suggestion of what to see and experience with a little bit about myself and my own experience here in Puerto Rico. I will also try to answer all the questions you have about Puerto Rico as well.

Thank you again for allowing me to be part of your day and I look forward to our growing relationship and hearing from you.
